Part Desert Rock, part Garage Rock, this 4 track EP had me hooked straight away. It helps considerably that my music taste evolved so much while listening to bands like this when I was 16/17 years old. With elements reminiscent of so many bands from that period, but then using their own individual identity to form something that feels refreshing, fun and enjoyable throughout. The guitar work stands out instantly from the first track, with an individual tone and style each song that really shows off the obvious talent within the band. Similarly, the rhythm section helps drive the tempo of each song along, really fleshing out the tracks with a really well produced sound. Vocally I was impressed, and he has a very unique sound that translates across all the tracks well. The most pleasant surprise was the lack of guitar solos, instead focusing on using breakdowns that incorporate the whole band around a riff. It shows off how musically cohesive this band are. I'd usually mention one or two tracks that stood out, but honestly, all of them have their own unique qualities, reminding me of some of my favourite bands of 15 years ago, but then adding something new to the mix, dragging it kicking and screaming to the forefront of a genre in need of a real kick in the ass. Dead Dollar Days are going to go places with this latest release, and I can't wait to see what comes next, I'm expecting something huge.
