Spotlight On 'City Of Ashes and their creation The Sometimes Project'

Brighton alternative rock quartet City Of Ashes are very proud to announce the details of their new single ‘Sometimes’, which is taken from their second album ‘Rise’. A few months ago, the band independently took it upon themselves to set up ‘The Sometimes Project’ to help their fans with their battles with depression, making a safe place online for them to talk about their personal struggles. The project has already touched hundreds of people, so much so that the band gained funding by the National Lottery for the production of their new video, as well as obtaining sponsorship and support from Barclays, The London Eyeand The Samaritans. The band have put together an incredibly moving and inspirational music video/short film for ‘Sometimes’, a song originally inspired by a fans incredible battle with depression. “It occurred to us during the recording process that this simple little song had as much to say as anything on our record and that, if it spoke to us this much, perhaps the message was as relevant to others.” says Vocalist Orion Powell.

The single and music video will be released on the 10th October as part of World Mental Health Day, with the band hoping to raise as much awareness as possible for an illness that’s been a struggle for so many of their dedicated fans, as well as them personally. Keeping all this in mind the band also set up ‘Stand As One’: A simultaneous gig across the country honouring the struggles of those dealing with depression. This takes place on the 19th November in different cities up and down the UK, with the goal of drawing as much attention to the issue as humanly possible. Artists at all of these shows will share their own experiences and battles with depression.
