Interview With 'Hometruths'
Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
I’m Alex, and I’m the Drummer for Hometruths. This band is the outcome of joint frustration, we all wanted to establish something that had a purpose. We planned to create a platform we could use as a movement, and a way of voicing issues.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
Myself and Gaz were putting on shows back in North Wales before we moved here to Manchester and met the rest of the band. We were in a band based in Wales around 4 years ago, and from there we knew it’s what we wanted to do. As for the rest of the band, everyone has a musical background and had been a part of bands before so we all just slotted together.
Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.
'Open Your Eyes' is our opening statement, it’s a collection of songs based on current world issues and the intention of this record is to bring light to these issues. Musically we haven’t and don’t plan to label ourselves a specific genre, the listeners can decide for themselves. We’ve recently been compared to bands such as Stray From The Path, While She Sleeps and Beartooth, there’s definitely a lot of Hardcore aspects in there but we also make our way towards the other end of the metal spectrum throughout the EP.
Who would you say is the band’s main song writer or is it a group effort and where do you draw your inspiration lyrically and musically from?
It’s a group effort when we’re writing, and we all listen to a lot of different music and genres. Lyrically I think our inspirations are clear, we’ve taken anger and frustration about certain issues and written the songs as a statement about each one.
As a band what do you believe is your greatest achievement to date and why?
To date, we see signing to USA based record label CI Records out greatest achievement. This is something all of us hoped to achieve, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds whilst working CI.
What do you enjoy most about touring?
To date we have not toured, but we have a UK run coming up with Death Remains.

A lot of energy, and a little chaos.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
Stray From The Path. The energy, work ethic and content of that band’s music has been a big inspiration for myself.
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
An hours drum talk with Buddy Rich.
