Decade - The Asylum, Birmingham 03.03.2017
Another night, another show – this time in The Asylum, coincidentally where I work on a Saturday night as a club photographer. However I was gutted when I turned up to discover I was an hour late (always check what time doors are people!), and had missed support slots from Coast To Coast and Wallflower. Catching up with a few members of the crowd, it was clear that these two bands had set the bar high for the evening. Coast To Coast regularly play in my area, and after seeing them support Seaway earlier on in the year it’s been great watching them progress.
Thankfully, I’d made it in time to catch Big Spring, who delivered a fantastically energetic set that caused the crowd to surge to the front. Their music consists of heavy drums and bass lines, with the singer’s vocal range blowing everyone else out of the water. Take some time out to listen to their latest single '5th Of July' and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
This was my second time seeing Decade, and since then they’ve amped up their set with a whole host of new tracks guaranteed to get you moving. Their set was absolutely flawless – impressive considering the tight confines of this intimate venue and the rowdiness of the crowd – and they mix their old material in with new songs such as my favourite track 'Coffin'. I can’t get over how much these guys have progressed since I saw them last – they’re polished to perfection.
