Lonely The Brave - OMEARA, London 13.10.2018
Lonely The Brave marked a new chapter in their promising career by playing to a sold out OMEARA this Saturday.
Back in March, Lonely The Brave delivered the unfortunate news that frontman and co-founder, Dave Jakes would be leaving the band for mental health reasons. They closed the announcement with the promise of continuing the band with a new vocalist in the near future. That promise was realised in August when the band introduced Jack Bennett – aka Grumble Bee – as the newest addition to Lonely The Brave along with an announcement of this OMEARA show as the first with Jack performing.
It’s no easy feat to join a band with an established fan base, especially as a frontman, so there was an element of nervousness around the new line-up. But by the time the chorus of opening track 'Backroads' kicked in, the crowd knew they were in safe hands.
Naturally, Jack continued to be the main focus of the night. Aside from being an awesome vocalist, he was humble, friendly and constantly grateful to the supportive crowd who sang every word along with him.
Talking to Jack the day after the show, he explained:
“I was really nervous for the first time in a long time, as I just wanted to do the songs the justice they deserved! I’m really happy the guys are able to be back up there on a stage to be honest.”
It’s clear that the band is bigger than any one of the members – it’ll take a while to get used to the new line-up, fans are ultimately ecstatic to see the band out again. With an album in the works, 2019 will be an exciting year for the Lonely The Brave, and we can’t wait to see what comes from this new era they’re creating.
Overheard quotes from the crowd:
“I love him so much already” (Jack)
“I’ve never been in such a gorgeous venue” (OMEARA)
“The new t-shirts are well sexy”
