Blue Violet - 'Barefoot On The Seine' Single Review
Blue Violet are shortly due to release their second album, 'Faux Animaux' in January 2025. As a teaser for how good it’s going to be they’ve released this single, 'Barefoot on the Seine'.
The north London duo describe this as a protest song with the very strong message that love conquers all.
It’s a beautiful song which has two distinct tempos to it, the acoustic, almost Dylanesque, slow part which, for the chorus, morphs into a full on rock song, very reminiscent of Paramore mixed with Garbage but also very clearly Blue Violets own style.
Personally, I loved the quiet introspective sound of the acoustic sections, I think that Sarah’s vocals are excellent and Sam’s guitar playing is the perfect foil for her voice, the lyrics really pulled me in and got me invested.
What really works with this single, and it will hopefully be the case with the rest of the album, is that the two of them have crafted the kind of song the lures you in, makes you think it’s a lovely piece of writing then blows your socks off briefly before going back to the acoustic side, then doing it all over again, the is a duo at the top of their game from what I can
The band are just finished supporting Echobelly on their recent tour and will be doing a short tour in support of the new album once it’s out.
If their PR would be kind enough to send us the new album, we’d love to review it!
