NOVA TWINS – 'Monsters' Single Review
One of the best rock acts to come out in the last few years in my opinion are Nova Twins, the last album, 'Supernova', was a rock masterpiece, shortlisted for the Mercury leading to two Brit nominations and their live shows blew people away. Two albums in now there is a lot of anticipation for the next album and with the last one being so successful it’s time for a new single.
There is always some trepidation when approaching new music, especially from a band with as much talent and potential as this one. 'Monsters' has now been out in the world for a few days having dropped with very little preamble.
The song is about mental health, not a topic always covered by rock acts but one that needs talked about. It’s very much them opening up about their own issues while encouraging people to think about their own mental health.
'Monsters' is epic, it has the full on riffs we have come to expect from Nova Twins but it also shows a growing maturity, a willingness to quieten things down, to switch it up and then down again, it all comes together perfectly. The video is all about the band, rightly so, as this is deeply personal record while at the same time being a brilliant piece of riff heavy rock.
This is a song that should break them to the much wider audience that they deserve, if the rest of the album is this good then I, for one, can’t wait!
Nova Twins are back and they mean serious business! I’m not sure when the album will be out but I can’t wait, I would also love them to announce some gigs in support of it, I know they’re doing a one off show for Brits week but surely we get more?
