Spotlight: Top 10 Must See Bands: Slam Dunk 2021
Live events are back after what feels like a life time and one of our favourites is almost upon us. Luna will be heading to this years South event for us, so to get herself and you guys and gals prepared she has compiled a list of her top 10 must see bands. Check them out below.
DON BROCO
Bedford boys Don Broco will be dominating the stage at Slam Dunk this year. Their fourth studio album is set for release in September and I am beyond excited to finally be seeing these guys and their insane levels of energy for myself.
STATE CHAMPS
I hate to admit that I was introduced to these guys quite late in the game. But my heart and ears are craving this intoxicating Pop Punk bliss. They've just released their latest single 'Just Sound' paying homage to the legendary artist Bob Ross or 'Rob Boss' and after Slam Dunk, head out on their US tour starting with Nashville.
WHILE SHE SLEEPS
This Sheffield based Metalcore five-piece has been on my list of bands to see for quite some time now. They have taken creative control in the last few years by starting up and signing to their very own label Sleep Brothers in the UK and in colaboration with Spinefarm Records in the US and UNFD in Australia.
ANTI-FLAG
I saw Anti-Flag in 2019 on my first experience of Slam Dunk. And I knew their music but hadn't followed ther journey as much as I later wish I had. They absolutely blew me away. And everyone else. They united everyone, informed, cared and their passion and intensity was contagious. I've never seen anything like it.
THE SKINTS
Mix Ska, Punk, Dancehall, Soul and Rap into one and you get something that cannot be tamed. This London group were introduced to me at a house party back in 2011 and have been a constant in my life ever since.
FRANK TURNER & THE SLEEPING SOULS
Many a good memory involve my friends and I singing Frank Turner at the top of our Lungs in the pub or a field and I cannot wait to see the crowd sing his lyrics back to him this time. To date, Turner has released eight solo albums, four rarities compilation albums, one retrospective "best of" album, one split album and five EPs. Turner's eighth studio album, No Man's Land, was released on 16 August 2019.
MAYDAY PARADE
Fade in. 14 year old me is locked away in her room, drawing and blaring 'A Lesson in Romantics' for the 8th time that week. And now I'm writing that, it is setting in how long ago that feels. So I plan to get right at the front of that crowd and teleport right back to that room and sing my bloody heart out.
SKINDRED
This band is acknowledged as one of the most enthralling live bands on the planet Metal, Reggae, Hiphop and bundles of energy and personality. I have been waiting a long time to witness this beautiful chaos.
WARGASM
This Nu-Metal duo has announced their first ever UK-headline tour and we are all ready for the thrill, the power, the destruction and the explosions of energy that is Wargasm.
DEEZ NUTS
When I saw this name on the line-up, a thousand memories came flooding back. Days sent sitting in my friends house playing UFC and Tony Hawk. Hailing from Melbourne, Austrailia in 2007, these guys have five studio albums and one EP under their belt and have supported amazing bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Stray From The Path and Comeback Kid.
